Born and raised in New City, New York, Stephanie Hausner is a proven leader on the local, state and national levels.  Stephanie began her community involvement while a student at Clarkstown South High School, earning awards for her work in the community from the Rockland County Legislature and the Clarkstown School District before graduating. This activism continued while a student at Johns Hopkins University, where Stephanie graduated with a BA in International Relations with a concentration in American Foreign Policy in May 2006. She wrote her senior honors thesis on “Political Institutions, Culture, and Female Executive Power.”

Stephanie was elected to the Clarkstown Town Council in 2007, where she currently serves. She is the youngest Town Councilperson in the history of Clarkstown. She is the liaison to the Architecture & Landscape Commission, Fire Board of Appeals, Historical Review Board, Justice Court, Economic Development, and the Traffic & Traffic Fire Safety Advisory Board. She is also on the subcommittee on Housing for the Implementation of Clarkstown’s Comprehensive Plan. She is currently the youngest female elected official in the State of New York. The Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee recently recognized Stephanie as a rising star in NY politics.

Stephanie is very active politically, and has served in many local, state, and national positions in the Democratic Party. She is he Democratic National Committeewoman of the Young Democrats of American, serving on its Board of Directors since 2007. She is member of the Democratic National Committee and serves as the Secretary of the DNC Youth Council. She also is very active in the Clarkstown Democratic Committee, who awarded her the 2008 Liberty Youth Award for her exemplary dedication to her community.

Stephanie was named one of Rockland County’s “40 under 40” in 2010, and was the youngest awardee. She is a graduate of Leadership Rockland 2010-2011 class and is involved in many community organizations. She is active member of Congregation Sons of Israel-Nyack.

In addition to being on the council she is the Director of Leadership Development and Community Outreach for the Jewish Federation of Rockland County. In this capacity she oversees the Shalom Rockland efforts, the Leadership Development Institute, the Jewish Community Relations Council, and represents the organization in various capacities.  Prior to working at the Federation Stephanie worked at Riverspace Arts in Nyack, and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs. In 2008, Stephanie managed and fundraised for Kristen McElroy’s State Senate race, closing what was a 22-point deficit against a 19-year incumbent to only 4 points.
